A containerised controlled-environment agriculture (CEA) system has been christened ahead of its planned deployment to Bonaire, marking the next stage of a project focused on local food production, resource efficiency and decentralised growing.

In Charlotte, an indoor vertical farm at the Innovation Barn is positioning itself as an alternative to traditional outdoor growing by moving lettuce production into shipping containers and using a controlled, water-powered system designed to limit outside exposure.

Babylon Micro-Farms works with commercial organizations looking to grow fresh produce directly inside their facilities through hydroponic farming systems designed for year-round indoor cultivation. The company says the conversation around food access is changing across industries traditionally dependent on long supply chains and centralized sourcing models.
